Come one, come all, to the eleventh Here Be Dragons weekend event. Plans for the weekend include all we have become accustomed to enjoy at HBD, such as armoured combat, rapier combat, a feast, classes and socialising with a convivial crowd of people. The venue in 2013 is a new one for the Shire, Zebra Moon backpackers’ lodge in Greyton, about 1.5 hours’ drive from Cape Town. The site has several small dormitories (5-8 beds), private rooms, a large kitchen and dining hall, a tournament field alongside a braai area and a separate well lit lounge. The town of Greyton is lovely to spend a weekend in, with lovely mountain walks and hikes possible as well as shopping in some quite exclusive little shops.
The event fee is R480 per person for the weekend, which covers every meal from Friday supper to Sunday lunch, including the Saturday evening feast. The event fee guarantees you a dormitory bed. Choosing a private room will cost slightly more, please consult with the event steward. Children 6-12 pay half price, under 6 are free.
The site opens Friday 22 March 16h00 and closes Sunday 24 March 14h00.
Please note that Thursday 21 March is a public holiday and Friday 22 March has been designated a school holiday. Perhaps arriving early at the site is an option for you? In which case you are encouraged to make your own plans with the venue.
Booking has opened. Please contact the event steward to book a place and let her know your dietary requirements.
We hope to see you there!
