Here Be Dragons comes again – and this year it is especially special – being combined with Cowshed (Shire Birthday event) celebrating our 20th year as a Shire!
Come and join us this March for the Shire of Adamastor’s weekend away event of 2016. There will be Arts & Sciences classes, armoured and rapier combat tournaments, archery, feasting and general socializing.
This year it is 4 days, 3 nights – all coinciding with the Easter weekend public holidays.
New to the Shire and don’t have medieval garb or gear of your own yet? Contact the event steward, we’ll help kit you out…
Interested but traveling from outside South Africa? Here’s a page of airline details.
This year Master Guntram is making special 20 Year tokens. Read more about them here and make sure to book one if you’re interested.

The venue, Greyton EcoLodge, is about 1.5 hours’ drive from Cape Town. Directions to the venue will be mailed to all who have booked prior to the event. Anyone needing transport should alert the event steward as early as possible so lift-club arrangements can be investigated.
The site has several small dormitories (5-8 beds), private rooms, a large kitchen and dining hall, a tournament field alongside a braai area and a separate well lit lounge.
While we do have the venue to ourselves, there are a few rules we need to be aware of.
No smoking allowed inside any of the buildings. Smoking only allowed in designated outdoor areas. No pets are allowed on the premises. As the lodge is part of an Eco-friendly community initiative, we are encouraged to conserve water and electricity and recycle waste using the bins provided.
Please note the private rooms are limited and booked on a first come first served basis for locals. Foreigners may get preferential treatment, this will be discussed closer to the time. The only booked private room is a paid private room.
Bookings close on the 18th of March.
Please contact the event stewards, Mairi Jean or Garsiyya, if you have any queries, for bookings or to notify us of any specific dietary requirements.
