Oriental Plaza
1. TCT - great range of buttons, zips, cotton threads and trimmings, sometimes good specials on velvet, etc.
2. Spice shop at the back left groundfloor corner. This is the only place I know that sells cardamom, a must-have ingredient for Lebkuchen.

Woodburn Crescent, Cape Town 021 423 9782

Pot Elizabeth
Pottery shop - majolica white (Swan Lake) and clear (Spectre) glaze and stains. Also lustres (bronze, pewter, gold). They have slip cast plates, bowls and goblets. You can either buy them fully painted or paint them yourself and Pot Elizabeth will fire the items for you at an extra 50% of the cost of the item. They also stock local underglazes, but I have been advised to rather buy the imported ones, as the local made glazes seem to blister - which when you have laboured very hard with your design is a very frustrating thing to have happen to you.
Kloofnek Road 021 424 5401

S.A. Fine Worsted
The factory shop of woolen fabric is opposite the entrance. You can buy the fabric by the metre; very reasonably priced.
68 7th Avenue

Thread Needle Street
Really good selection of needlework supplies (Aida fabric, silk thread, books).
Glebe Street, Rondebosch 021 686 6817

Woodheads
Leather supplies, including vegetable tanned; dyes, buckles, tools etc.
